Da Vinci was known to be a perfectionist and wanted to use living people to portray Jesus and His Apostles in his painting; The Last Supper. Hundreds of young men were viewed for the face of Jesus before Da Vinci found a face he felt looked un-affected by sin.The final Apostle to be painted was Judas - who betrayed Jesus. Da Vinci searched all of Italy for a man with a face that bore the scars of deceit and eventually found him in a prison in Rome. The prisoner was carried to Milan where the fresco was being painted. When he had finished he told the guardes the prisoner could be taken away. Immediately the man broke free and ran to Da Vinci crying, "Do you not know who I am?" Da Vinci replied: "No, I have never seen you in my life until you were brought before me out of the dungeon in Rome." The prisoner said, "Leonardo, look at me agaain, for I am the same man you painted just seven years ago as the figure of Christ!
